Calc II and Operating Systems in the first half, and UNIX in the second half.

Well, at least Calc II should be a challenge ;)

In other school news, my Religion class starts tomorrow (omg I'mma be in an actual classroom! with chairs! and a teacher! and .... ZOMG other students!) so I've taken the past 2 days to get myself sleeping on an ~8:30-4:30 schedule. Sunday didn't work so well (woke up at 2pm and couldn't get back to sleep) but today worked.

I got a B- in my Irish class and an A- in my ethics class, so that worked out ok.

I've been falling behind in my Irish studies class since week 1, but did alright in my Ethics for IT class...

Until last week, where I spent the whole weekend working on a paper for the Irish class, neglecting the Ethics class completely.

Now I have a 4-6 page paper on an ethical decision I've made recently, due last Sunday at midnight, plus this week's homework for both Irish and Ethics.

And I can't come up with a damn thing. My brain really doesn't work like that. What a lot of people would consider ethical dillemas, my brain just does automagically. According to a little test the week before last, I'm a die-hard deontologist. My brain has it's set of rules and just makes decisions based on them. I cannot think of anything in the past year that required any serious hemming and hawing, certanly nothing that could be expounded on to fill 4 pages.

and now we see the title of this site in action:

BLARG!

I just looked at the actual class requirements that I'll still have to take after this fall semester. Assuming I pass all the classes I'll have:

18 Core (i.e. Gen Ed) credits left
4 lower division credits (just Calc II, a 4 credit class)
30 upper division credits

for a whopping total of 52 credits remaining

that's 17 classes

at 3 classes / semester (my current 3/4 time workload) that's 5 2/3 semesters

so, if I stay at 3/4 time, that's 3 classes a semester till the end of summer 2010, then the last 2 classes in fall of '10.

Or I can go nuts and do a full time load of 4 classes a semester and have one class in the summer of 2010, then graduate.

Good thing my loan company doesn't expect anything before 2013.

52 credits, at the current online class cost, is $22,620; if i took them all in class, it'd be $17,420. I'm not taking them all in class. Yeesh.
Last CS homework went well, CS final not so much.

The CS (intro to comp theory) midterm took nearly all of the 3 hours allotted, with several graphs of finite state automata and such needing to be done (which was a surprise to everyone and the submission was quite cumbersome).

So I psyched myself up for the Final, got the laptop/tablet all ready for fast and furious scribbling and started the final.

15 minutes later was on question 19 and scrolled down to find....
Continue reading "And now it's done"

I just finished my discrete math final. Contrapositives and Converses tripped me up a bit, but everything else went well.

Now for my last Comp Theory homework and then the final for that.

Oh, and my 'credits left to do' math down there is based on 128 credits needed to graduate, not the actual classes i still need to take. Therefore it's a gross underestimation and I'll figure out the real number later.

This update is for my two regular readers to have something new to read. One of them is Googlebot.

Then again I haven't advertised this on UF yet.

Then again I haven't had much to say.

I'm in week 8 of 08m8w2 (i.e. second half of the 2008 summer semester) and messing with this instead of working on the last homeworks and/or prepping for finals. Comp theory this week is on Turing machines, and Discrete Math is on more graph stuff.

So far in school:

PL*225 XP41 Logic and Reasoning A 3.00 08M8W1
CS*370 XP71 Assembly Language A 3.00	08S8W2
MT*360A XP70 Calculus I B+ 4.00 08S8W2 (I was really close to an A, too)
CS*372 XP40 Adv Programming and AlgorithmsA 3.00 08S8W1
CS*362 XP71 Data Structures A 3.00 07F8W2
CS*208 XP40 Computer Science Fundamentals A 3.00 07F8W1

For a total of 19 credits at an official GPA of 3.860

Added to my accepted SRJC credits (64) equals 83 credits.

For Fall (08f8w1) I'll be taking Early Christian Ireland (IRSH 410E) and Ethics for IT Proffessionals (CS 418) both online. Then, in the second half of the semester, I'll have a couple weeks off before taking my first classroom class in 08f5w3 (yeah, 3 semester-hours of learning in 5 weeks, one 4 hour class a week) which is RC 220A, "World Religious Traditions I" Which concentrates on Eastern religions/philosophies such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism.

My first two 400 level classes and my first classroom class. This could be interesting....

After those 3 classes are done (3 credits ea.) and with the current 2, I'll be up to 98 total, meaning only 30 to go. At 3 classes/semester and 3 credits/class, I'll have my BS by the end of Fall 2009 assuming I take 4 classes one semester.

I guess that assumes I pass all of them, which starts with doing my homework for this week.
