The Navy appears to be saying "We liked what we saw and want further testing" on the existing WB7 platform. So they aren't building WB8 yet (whether that be a fullsize net-power or just something larger/different than WB7) but more testing is good. Dr. Nebel hasn't said anything about it on talk-polywell.org that I've seen, but I'll keep an eye out.

Dr. Nebel is his usual cautious self, but the fact that they didn't disprove Bussard's work and want to build a bigger one is a Good Thing!

So the navy's interested in more research...

I've been following the EMC2/Bussard/Polywell fusion stuff since I first saw the erronious reports about Gov. Ahnold funding them (2k6ish?) and watched Dr. Bussard's Google Talk.

I got hooked on the stuff and have been following MSimon's Power And Control blog and occasionally reading talk-polywell (both linked over there -->). However, things have been all but silent for the last couple months with the new WB7 experiment.

But they're done with the experiment now. Unfortunately Dr. Nebel is being typically tight-lipped about it, but I expect more info to be coming in over the next couple days.
